Housing is a fundamental need that is so much more than just a roof over your head. When people have the means to choose their preferred type of housing, they are healthier, happier and lead more productive lives.
An investment in Affordable Housing will accomplish:
- Access to a variety of affordable, quality housing for low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities
- A positive contribution to the economy by creating jobs and strengthening local economies
- An increased supply of affordable, modern housing with improved living standards
Under the affordable housing programs, between 2002 to March 2013, the province has invested in creating/preserving approximately 1,900 homes. Funding for these investments was made available through Affordable Housing Agreements with the federal government.
