Housing Nova Scotia Hosting Conference on Homeownership

Housing Nova Scotia, along with CMHC and Habitat for Humanity, is hosting an affordable homeownership conference, on November 25, 2014, in Dartmouth.

The Affordable Homeownership Conference: An Industry Perspective will bring together housing stakeholders from across Nova Scotia and Canada to discuss challenges and solutions about access to affordable home ownership.

The conference will feature local and national experts, experienced practitioners, and recognized speakers discussing the latest issues impacting access to homeownership and housing affordability, with a special focus on first-time home buyers.

There are four main sessions being presented at the conference:

Session 1: The current housing and mortgage environment (CMHC)
Session 2: Breaking the barriers to homeownership in Nova Scotia (Housing NS)
Session 3: Habitat for Humanity: The benefits of homeownership
Session 4: Affordable homeownership best practices (Innovative Residential Inc.)

60 participants were invited to attend this first industry conference. Attendees include: mortgage brokers, financial experts, private developers, home builders, housing providers, municipal planners, researchers, students, architects, and government officials.
