Affordable Housing Projects

Housing is a fundamental need that is so much more than just a roof over your head. When people have the means to choose their preferred type of housing, they are healthier, happier and lead more productive lives.

An investment in Affordable Housing will accomplish:

  1. Access to a variety of affordable, quality housing for low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities
  2. A positive contribution to the economy by creating jobs and strengthening local economies
  3. An increased supply of affordable, modern housing with improved living standards

Since 2013, the province has invested in creating or preserving more than 7,900 affordable homes for Nova Scotians:

  • New rental units = 216
  • Rental preservation = 82
  • Households assisted with home repair/adaptations = 6,134
  • Rent supplements (outside of new rentals) = 1,475

Total: 7,907*
