Neighbourhood Improvement Initiative

The Neighbourhood Improvement Initiative’s overall purpose is to support a community revitalization's effort in a designated area, with the long term outcome of building a foundation for a healthy and vibrant community. This new program was designed to demonstrate to residents and neighbouring communities the impacts that a healthy, vibrant, and diverse community can have.

Through the program, landlords and homeowners can apply for a non-repayable grant. These grants are made available for exterior, street facing improvements on the property and can be used for repairs, replacements, or the installation of new items.

Neighbourhood Improvement Initiatives were completed in Truro, Glace Bay, Yarmouth, and Amherst.

On April 23, 2017, a plan to support homeowners and landlords in the neighbouhood of Tufts Cove, located in Halifax Regional Municipality, was announced.

The application form will be available on this site on June 23, 2017.
