Current Programs and Resources
Many of the programs and projects the Province supports, including those impacting public housing and cooperative and community housing organizations, are jointly funded by the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada through the Canada Community Housing Initiative.
The Secondary and Backyard Suite Incentive Program will provide up to $25,000 in forgivable loans to eligible homeowners who create an affordable secondary or backyard suite in their home or on their property (additional information to come).
The Canada-Nova Scotia Targeted Housing Benefit assists eligible low-income households to reduce housing need. It provides a direct-to-household benefit to households in core or severe core housing need in targeted vulnerable populations.
These programs help with making modifications to homes so they are more accessible.
Grants and forgivable loans to allow for emergency repairs as well as repairs related to health and safety
Programs to help landlords offer safe and affordable housing for lower income households.
This program supports shelters for women, children and youth who are victims of family violence.
